Book Review of Witch Hunt (WitchBlood Series #4) by Emma Mills

Synopsis:

As the Christmas season is ripped apart by the news that Jess’ old friend Alex has been turned into a vicious killer, festivities are dropped, Jess returns to England and the hunt begins. But Alex isn’t the only one being hunted, for Mary has found a way to extinguish the entire bloodline of Malden witches, and it is Jess’s book of shadows that’s the key. As things hot up, Jess finds she must leave Daniel and the safety of Manchester in a final hunt for her nemesis, Mary. In a fight-off that only one of them can survive, loved ones will fall… daemons will rise… but who will survive?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is the fourth and final book in the WitchBlood series. I loved it!

Jess James is a fabulous character. She is one of the strongest (emotionally and physically) heroines that I have come across in a book. She has grown up a lot from the first story, and is a very powerful opponent - being a vampire and a witch. However, she has to face an even more challenging mission - tracking down her best friend.

This story hooked me from the first page! I struggled to put the book down! I must admit that I have missed these characters, as they have become friends. Even Saffy has grown on me, as she finally accepts Jess's mixed vampire/witch status and dials down the jealousy. The coven of vampires are a formidable force, but a coven of witches are just as deadly! Jess has a foot in both worlds, which comes in handy when you have a deadly foe after you. Mary is insane with grief, and has a plan that could mean the end of the Malden coven line. With lots of twists and turns, the story unfolds. I was a little disappointed in the storyline with regards to Alex, and (I am trying not to give anything away here!) I would have liked a different outcome. Nevertheless, the daemon at the end of the story certainly revved up the adrenaline factor! As this is the final book in the series, it is a bittersweet tale for me, but I am looking forward to reading more books from this author in the future.

Emma Mills has written a fast paced story that flows beautifully. It is also a masterpiece of originality. I have never read anything like it before.

I highly recommend this YA Paranormal Romance if you love stories with vampires, witches and angels. - Lynn Worton
