As expected, she leaves the bulk of her estate, including the Enchanted Forest to Micah, but the Will is contested by his cousin, Trey. A dangerous type of scavenger hunt in which Micah and his team are pitted against Trey’s team will determine who inherits the Forest with its extremely powerful and valuable Crystal Cave. Can Micah win the Still Hunt and preserve the Enchanted Forest, or will Trey win and sell its valuable resources to the highest bidder? Will Haley stay with Micah, or will she succumb to Trey's Gift of Suggestion?

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is the third book in an exciting YA fantasy series. I loved it!

Haley and her twin sister Lacey are now nearly 18 years old. I like these two girls very much. It has been interesting watch them grow up over the series. They have matured a lot and grown from unsure young girls into confident young women.

This story quickly drew me back into a world of magic and magical creatures. I was hooked from the first page and read this book in one sitting. The characters have all matured and have grown stronger because of their previous adventures in Great Aunt Gisele's Enchanted Forest. It was a pleasure to meet Micah and Taylor again too. The story is mostly told through the eyes of Haley, but Micah has his say and so does his cousin, Trey.

Micah has come to his Great Aunt's to learn how to communicate with the spirits, but finds himself having to compete in the "Still Hunt" against his cousins, Trey and Selena, in order to decide ownership of the Enchanted Forest and to break a curse that has affected not only his family, but Haley and Lacey's family too. The story was full of action, danger and adventure. There is one graphic, but not explicit scene near the end of the book of a sexual nature, which takes this YA story closer to the NA genre. However, this scene is necessary in a couple of ways. The scene is crucial to the plot, and also shows the reader the magic of young love and commitment. This scene was extremely well written and quite touching. In fact, the whole book came alive with the vivid descriptions written by the author. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.

Diane Haynes has written a fantastic fast paced fantasy adventure for middle grade children/young teens, but I think that adults may enjoy it too. I love her fast paced writing style, and the flow was wonderful. She is one of my favourite YA authors.

I highly recommend this book if you love fantasy, adventure, magic, YA/NA or stories full of mythical beings. - Lynn Worton
