Review:
Winter's Kiss by Felicity Heaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This is the fifth book in the Vampire Realm Romance Series. I loved it!
Winter is a vampire and a member of the Validus bloodline, one of the oldest vampire families. He is the Chosen Son and second in command to Lord Hyperion. I liked this character a lot. He is the ultimate warrior - protective of his bloodline and loyal. When the human he secretly covets is attacked, he is torn between his loyalty to his family and his love for Nika.
Nika is a human, who has grown up in a village near to the Validus castle in Russia. I liked this character. She is rather naive about the world around her, but after an attack that changes her world, she finds herself facing a deadly decision.
This is another fantastic erotic paranormal romance in the series. The world building has gotten better, and the characters more complex and sexy. The story is an exciting roller coaster ride from start to finish. Having already been introduced to a vampire/werewolf couple in the Prophecy Trilogy in the form of Mia and Demitri, it was intriguing to follow Winter and Nika's journey. The story is told from both Winter's and Nika's point of view.
I felt for Winter as he dealt with the devastating consequences of the werewolf attack on Nika. Not only is a relationship between a vampire and werewolf frowned on, it is against the Law and is punishable by death. The raw passion that Winter and Nika feel for each other comes across as scorching! The pages just about combust! There are several twists and turns, and I have come to the conclusion that Lord Hyperion is either a rebel, or he has a soft spot for couples in love. Nevertheless, I am beginning to like the Validus leader a lot! It would be interesting to read his story eventually. The end of the story made me very happy and, although this book can be read as a stand alone, I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Hunter's Moon.
Felicity Heaton has written another fantastic paranormal romance. I love her writing style, which is fast paced, exciting and believable. She is number one on my Favourite Authors List.
As this is an erotic paranormal romance with explicit scenes, I do not recommend this book to younger readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love erotic paranormal romances full of action, adventure, sexy vampires and werewolves. - Lynn Worton
